胡頹子，在和名中稱為苗代茱萸。擁有厚重、皮革質感的葉片，葉面呈灰綠，葉背則為銀白色。秋季時會綻放奶白、芳香的花朵，隨後結出紅褐色果實。 充足日照可促進葉片色澤及開花，屬於容易養護的日本盆景。
